IS IT EASY TO WIRE A HOME?
Wiring the electrics into a new home or home renovation is a messy and often difficult task to do. We work in two stages: first we identify what you want, where you want it to go and what type of supply you will need around your home. Second, we will come to install everything working closely with your project planning to ensure we are there at the right stage of the build and renovation. Only until everything is installed and tested will we go live.
Wires will need to be run throughout the home; under floors, through walls and across ceilings. We highly recommend on these types of electrical installation projects that there are no carpets or furniture in place if possible. This is so that we can lift floorboards and cut into ceilings without causing much damage to items in the home.

WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN WIRING MY HOME?
We always ask what is going into each room, such as home automation, lighting and portable appliances (TV, Cooker etc.). That way we can design a plan at this stage so we and you know where you need the lights, plug points and any other electrical driven items.
Additions midway through or after a project are costly, so really knowing exactly what you want before planning is important. We recommend preparing by drawing a plan of your home with each room on a graph paper and marking up the position of beds, sofas, kitchen units and so on. This will help you and us to consider where light points need to go, where plug sockets should be installed and also little things like under-cabinet and bedside lighting is needed.
There is a lot to consider when designing, let us help you with this and offer our expert advice to make your house a dream home.

CAN I WIRE MY HOME MYSELF?
Whilst yes you can and DIY electrical work, rewiring and new wiring installation/alterations are covered by the Building Regulations Part P: Electrical Safety, we highly recommend using a qualified electrician to do the work for you.
You can undertake minor additions or alterations to existing electrical circuits, such as adding a new socket or light fitting without having to make a Building Regulations application, providing it is not in a wet area, such as a kitchen or bathroom.
